Dear Community Member,
BVCS Early Childhood Iowa (BVCS ECI) is the Early Childhood Iowa Area for Buena Vista, Crawford, and Sac Counties. BVCS ECI became a designated site for Early Childhood Iowa (formally Empowerment) in 1999. Since 1999 we receive funding from the State of Iowa that has allowed BVCS ECI to provide home visitation services to families, increase the quality in child care, provide tuition assistance to preschool families, provide young children with dental health screenings, supported literacy development, along with other initiatives that influence the early childhood system in our three-county area.
The BVCS ECI 3-County Board meets 10 times a year in Odebolt at the Trinity Lutheran Church, a central location for our area, with a Hybrid (Zoom) option. We meet from 10:00 to 11:30 am on the last Wednesday of the month, taking December and July off. Board members are asked to serve for a three-year term.
An Early Childhood Iowa area:
- Enables local citizens to lead collaborative efforts involving education, health, and human services programs on behalf of children, families and other citizens residing in the area.
- The focus is to improve results for families.
- Be fiscally responsible and accountable for the funds granted to the area.
- Be compliant with the Iowa Code put in place by the Iowa legislature for Early Childhood Iowa.
If you are interested in becoming a BVCS ECI Board member please contact our Program Director, she will be happy to meet with you or introduce you to one of our current members.
Thank you,
Buena Vista, Crawford, Sac, Early Childhood Iowa Board Members
