Preschool Scholarships

Northwest Early Childhood Area is offering preschool scholarships that assist parents/guardians with preschool tuition/financial support for children residing in the eleven counties included in the Northwest Early Childhood Area who are attending a 3 or 4 year old preschool program.  Applications will be processed and approved by financial need.  Scholarship payments will begin in September or the month the completed application is received and approved. Parents are responsible for tuition payments until the application has been approved.

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Awards will be based on adjusted gross family income.
2. Family income under 200% of the Health & Human Services Poverty Guidelines. 
3. Family income between 201% and 300% on a sliding fee. 
4. Children must be attending a 3 or 4 yr. old preschool program that has a signed Memorandum of Understanding with Buena Vista, Clay, Crawford, Dickinson, O’Brien, Osceola, Sac. Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth and Cherokee Counties will apply through Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. 
5. Children must turn 3 or 4 years of age by September 15, 2025.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Parent/Guardian must fill out information below and return form to the  preschool you wish to attend or the address listed on the scholarship.
2. Parent/Guardian must attach proof of income. Proof can include pay stubs for one month or last year’s tax return pages 1 & 2 with Social Security numbers unreadable.  
3. Please send a copy proof of income will not be returned.
4. Students attending a Health & Human Services Licensed Provider and are at or under 160% of the Federal Poverty Level will be asked to complete an application for Child Care Assistance. Please complete the Parent Attestation Form to see if you meet the basic eligibility requirements for Child Care Assistance.
